Choose Your Victim Episode 7

Episode 7 opens with our three remaining Survivors: Josh, Katrina, and Harper. The two girls are walking through The Killer’s lair with Josh right behind, shot-gun in hand.
Harper’s convinced that Josh is our Killer. (This also crossed my mind a couple times, as our villain is masked, but the use of continuity in previous episodes put this suspicion to rest.) Harper starts talking out her conspiracy theories with Katrina, as her panic starts to set in.
Harper gets some good screen time in this episode, and her character proves to be resourceful, ballsy, and tough. We really get to see past her stereotype, as she becomes less helpless and instigates Josh. This is of course a classic, ‘Why the hell would you do that?’ moment in horror. The last thing you want to do is anger the crazy dude with a shotgun.

The following sequence where Katrina and Harper try to escape is quite good. The two characters mirror each other perfectly, with Harper finding a boat and trying to get them both off the island. Katrina on the other hand is running around holding her cleavage, and is often standing around stunned. The music in this scene also compliments the scene well, as its a familiar feel to classic horror, but not too over-dramatic.
You almost think they’re gonna make good their escape until Josh catches up with them. Josh is taken out again, and Katrina does the dumbest thing possible and runs back into the creepy shack. This girl seriously has no logic.
Now the remainder of the episode changes this opinion of Katrina completely. She somehow reaches Josh on a rational level, or maybe it was the big blow to the head he suffered earlier. Its hard to say. Anyhow, Katrina is smart enough not to jump to rash conclusions and points out to Josh that he’s not capable of killing someone. The two them then form an alliance. (Funny how just in the previous episode Josh shot and killed our poor boom operator, but it was an accident so clearly it doesn’t count.)
A few words about the kill, I love it. Its bloodier than any of the previous murders. The blood make-up effects in this scene were so well executed! This death in particular has a very realistic feel, I enjoy the final blow more, as the scene builds up to it. I find the choice of weapons becoming more and more simple, making the kills themselves more violent and messy. This definitely satisfied my inner savage! I find the continuity of the kills becoming better and better, leaving less up to the imagination, and giving us more blood.
Only two survivors left, which one is gonna watch the other one die?
