First Thoughts on Captain Canuck ‘The Prometheus Protocol’
July 2, 2015

On July 1, 2015 Smiley Guy Studios along with Chapterhouse Studios released the first teaser for Season 2 of Captain Canuck. The new season is aptly named The Prometheus Protocol. The teaser is less than a minute in length. Hopefully fans will get a longer trailer closer to the release date in October.
Now the teaser itself uses a lot of older footage from Season 1, but that’s expected with a teaser. It doesn’t tell us much, and of course there’s no decernable plot aside from ‘Captain Canuck is in trouble.’ What little footage that’s definitely from Season 2 features our villain, Mister Gold, in a Hannibal Lecter-like prison cell. This of course adds to the creepy factor, and would suggest the show going into a darker, more serious route as sequels often do.
The Captain Canuck web series itself was released on July 1, 2013 and continued into spring of 2014 with a total of 5 episodes. The series has a string of Canadian stars including Kris Holden-Ried, Paul Amos, Laura Vandevoort, and Tatiana Maslany. Captain Canuck found success with fans of the original comics, but is a modern interpretation. This success interpreted into a new Captain Canuck comic book series, and it includes the modern interpretation of style and characters. This new version of the Captain Canuck comic is published through Chapterhouse Comics. Chapterhouse Studios is credited, along with Smiley Guy Studios, as production companies behind Season 2.
Chapterhouse Studios is a subsidiary of Chapterhouse Comics, the company that publishes the Captain Canuck comics along with The Pitiful Human Lizard, Northguard, and Beyond. Chapterhouse Studios’ website [hyperlink] doesn’t have a lot of information on the other comics, as it seems their selling point is Captain Canuck. The website does have hints of how Season 2 will look, because of character profiles that show off new information on Kebec and a new look for Red Coat.
